Easter will be here in a couple of weeks, and since Lee Jofa recently released artist Hunt Slonem's Groundworks collection of wallpapers that feature his famous bunnies, I thought I would devote a post to rabbits. I am also sharing a few of my favorite children's books about bunnies . . .

"Now available through Lee Jofa, the Hunt Slonem for Groundworks collection of wallpaper. The paper shown is Hutch, a fabulous bunny design available in a range of colors."

"Slonem’s fascination with the rabbit began in the early 1980s when he discovered that he was born in the year of the rabbit, according to the Chinese zodiac calendar. They first appeared in his paintings of saints surrounded by animals. Over time the rabbit has become a singular motif, appearing on its own on small canvases, or grouped together on larger ones, all framed in authentic antique 19th century portrait frames which are hand selected by Slonem. A signature feature of Slonem’s New York City studio is the Bunny Wall, a large expanse of salon-style groupings of Slonem’s small bunny paintings, some famously hung while still wet. These signature paintings are collectors’ items, and have inspired similar style groupings in both museums and private collections."

"Most important, she wanted the house to accommodate her daughters and their big, friendly Labrador retriever. The girls’ bedroom, with two low platform beds specially designed by Stilin, is 'wonderfully camp-like,' she says; paintings by Hunt Slonem add a dose of color." The walls are painted in Pratt and Lambert’s Haze Green.
