We'll Miss You...
We just got back from a few days in Port Douglas, with the kids, tiring, glad to be home, but was a wonderful holiday.Wonderful weather, need I say more...
Click here to tweet it if you like...
Yes we stayed at the Sheraton Mirage in Port Douglas,
Skasey's old haunt,
it was lovely, but it did still look like what it did in 1980's - literally - decor wise,
I'll spare you the photos of that time warp,
but here's some wonderful outdoor snaps, the grounds are spectacular,
so well kept, lush, inviting, quiet, yet great for kids...
(although not a great deal for our kids ages 4 & 5, moreso 8 - 10yos)
Seriously, so many pools, YET SO COLD!
No heating in the pools, trust me, not for the faint hearted swimming in winter,
despite it looking so inviting!
Why can't they just heat ONE pool - that's all we ask!!
Port Douglas is "VERY" far north,
an hours drive north of Cairns, Queensland Australia.
It is moreso for adult couples and retirees,
but we gave it a go anyhow,
next time, I think we'll stay at Cairns, more for young kids there.
Wonderful outdoor design and appearance,
although the hotel overall seemed nice,
there was a lot of wear and tear,
it clearly needs some money spent on it,
painting wouldn't go a miss.
We can live without new bathrooms,
but white paint would give it a new lease on life.
Our Room was on the third floor (a bit tiring up and down stairs
with kids who couldn't wait to climb stairs all the time)
The hotel staff were lovely,
although it was clear they were understaffed,
we often had to wait for basic things.
This was what we left in melbourne,
wet rainy day, 9am,
we flew Qantas direct to Port Douglas,
good flight!
Rosie loved the beach,
we weren't sure she would cope with the beach because she is so "touch senstive"
because of her autism, but she was ok after a while... She Loved It!
The weather was perfect for us every day,
around 25c every day!
Wow!
Getting our hands dirty on the Port Douglas Beach!
Playing at the Port Douglas Rex Smeal Park, near Macrossen Street
This Kids Park at Port Douglas, along the water,
was fantastic - lovely views for miles!
Rex Smeal Park.
Pretty Much the whole time we were "working" parents of some form,
here's Dad doing his usual "extra" load!
Yes, you can get hitched while you are there,
there's a chapel behind the Hotel, just in front of the beach!
Wow!
really one of the highlights of the stay,
this was the kids chicken/chips meal $15
There was a party (wedding) Monday Night,
they had it on "Giligans Island" above - so lovely!
The music kept DH up a bit,
but me, oh no, I sleep thru anything these days!
This was another event (probably wedding) at another spot on the
resort on the same night - busy entertaining place obviously!
Why not!
Check out the lush surroundings,
def the tropics!
Here's Rosie exploring the beach,
in her own time, like everything in life.
Here's her brother exploring in his own way,
he was diagnosed Aspergers recently,
but with therapy, he is coming along lovely!
Here's me with Rosie on the BalleyHooley Steam Train Ride.
CYA next week!
I need time to regain my energy and sanity!
:)
